What is Start Young?

Start Young: Building a More Involved Bluffdale is about getting the youth in our city more active in their community, city, and the people around them. Having your voice heard, learning about your city, and taking part as an active participant is what makes a city great. The whole purpose of a city is to serve its people and build lifelong connections. If we make the effort to be involved now, we can shape a city we actually want — and one we feel proud of.

Why starting young matters

As someone who has been part of the Bluffdale City Youth Council, I can tell you that being active when you’re young is huge. You’re laying the foundation for a lifetime of involvement. When you learn about your city and the ways you can take part now, you can start influencing your community now — it doesn’t have to wait for the future, and it isn’t only adults who make an impact. As a young person you can make a difference in any way, even if that’s just getting a job at a local Bluffdale establishment.

My role

I created this website as my platform as a Ms. Bluffdale contestant. The biggest reason I chose this is my involvement with the Bluffdale City Youth Council, where I serve as mayor. Through it I’ve met incredible people I never would have met otherwise and learned so much more about my city. I get to be part of something with lasting impact, and I can already see the difference being involved has made on me. It’s made such a difference that I want others to feel it too. Being involved is amazing, and it brings you so many benefits — I promise.

The goal

My goal for this website is to create a place where people can learn about all the opportunities Bluffdale has, right here in one spot. I hope it’s somewhere you can easily find a way to be involved and learn a little more about your city. Take a second to look around, see what interests you, and sign up for something. Many of these are low commitment but bring huge rewards, and there’s always something out there that will fit you. My hope is that everyone reading this finds something they want to join, take part in, and keep coming back to — building a lifelong habit of involvement for the youth of Bluffdale City.
